Breton Craftsmen in Early Tudor Devon 9th March Winter Lecture by John Allan

We hope you can join us for our final, evening winter lecture of the season, at Matthews Hall on Thursday 9th March. Doors open at 6.45pm, the lecture will start at 7.30pm and a bar will be available. John Allan (Consultant Archaeologist to the Dean and Chapter of Exeter Cathedral) will be speaking about Breton Craftsmen in Early Tudor Devon. Devon and Cornwall had a large immigrant population at the end of the Middle Ages, including skilled Breton woodcarvers. Some of the most beautiful works surviving in Devon churches, country houses and towns can be attributed to these craftsmen.
