‘The River’s Voice’ a Summer Lecture.

A Search for the Spirit of the Exe Estuary

Given by Exmouth painter and author Ray Balkwill
Thursday, 15 May, 11am at Matthews Hall (doors open 10:30am)

Ray describes his passion for his native county as ‘running as deep as the rich red itself’.

This illustrated talk provides a fascinating insight into the artist’s personal and physical relationship with the landscape and his ‘love affair’ with the Exe Estuary.

As an Academician of the South West Academy, Ray’s words and paintings have carried the grandeur of the region far and wide and will appeal to all those who are equally passionate about art, history, and the river.

The Topsham Museum building on Strand is currently undergoing extensive renovation work. In the meantime we have an extensive programme of exciting, ‘off site’ events and activities, including the lectures at Matthews Hall.
