Museum make-over ~ Update

No, we haven’t done our Christmas wrapping early!  The Museum is covered in scaffolding and protective plastic so specialist workmen can make essential repairs, whatever the weather.  However, there are no problems with access, just come into the Museum via the main gates, as usual.

Some months ago we noticed cracks in the external render and as some of the walls are cob, they are very vulnerable to water ingress.  Luckily, our landlords, Exeter City Council, have stepped in to remove all the render on the Shapter Street and Strand sides of the building.  They will inspect the walls, roof and chimneys, make essential repairs, re-render and re-paint. Work is anticipated to take several months, but by next Spring we should have a fresh new look and be ready to receive visitors as usual from 2 April.

Meanwhile, the Museum is open Wednesday to Sunday afternoons until 3 November, and we hope to offer some pop-up surprises during the winter.
