2024 marks 80 years since the frenetic months of 1944, when over 2 million troops from 12 countries were in Britain, preparing a surprise attack on Adolf Hitler and Nazi-occupied Europe. The people of Devon and the Exe Estuary were witnesses to this activity, many opening their homes to welcome strangers, or working alongside them to prepare for what would eventually be known as D-Day.
Visit the Exhibition Room to explore a half-forgotten world of pillboxes, gas-masks and stiff upper lips. The exhibition will be open throughout the 2024 season.
