We regret that the opening of the 2020 season has been deferred indefinitely because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Unfortunately our Tea Room/Garden and Shop is closed until futher notice. We look forward to welcoming you for a delicious cream tea in the future!
The tea room serves delicious home-made cakes and scones. Indoor seating is on the ground floor and each year the tea room walls display an exhibition relating to the area. When the weather allows, tea can be taken outside in our lovely garden with a choice of sunny or shady spots under the apple trees, sheltered by surrounding walls.
The shop has a varied range of books, cards and gifts to purchase. Our books and gifts are also available in our online shop. Near the shop and tea room is information about the birds and plants of the Exe Estuary with its feeding and roosting grounds for wading birds and ducks; many rare species overwinter on the nearby marshes. Popular with young people, there is a board on which buttons may be pressed to hear the calls of some of the birds that visit the area.
Both tea room and shop are open to visitors with no obligation to visit the rest of the museum … but we are sure you will be tempted to complete your visit another day!
