Museum Lecture Tuesday 26th July at Matthews Hall 12noon-1pm.

“Reframing Vivien Leigh’ by Lisa Smithstead is our next Museum Lecture, on Tuesday 26th July at Matthews Hall, from 12noon-1pm (doors open 11.45). Entrance £3 payable at the door. Do you know about the links Vivien Leigh has with Topsham Museum? Have seen the nightdress from the film ‘Gone with the Wind’ on display at the Museum as well as other memorabilia? Originally planned for our 2020 lecture series we are delighted to welcome Lisa Smithstead who will showcase some of the treasures unearthed through the ‘Reframing Vivien Leigh’ project at the University of Exeter, which explored the life and legacy of stage and screen star Vivien Leigh. The lecture will offer a particular focus on Leigh’s connection to the South West. Leigh as a local celebrity, and in turn open up a range of interconnected stories of local collectors and curators who have kept her legacy alive in the South West.
