Half-Term Family Art Activity Drop In Event Friday 25th October
James Lake, sculptor and artist, will lead a ‘Drop In’ family event for children aged 5 – 11 years old and young at heart adults. The theme this time is ‘Birds’ and James will be presenting various different activities to explore. There is no charge but a donation to the Museum would be appreciated. The event opens at 10:00 and will close at 2:00, so come at any time during those hours and stay until you have finished something you are pleased with!Tea and coffee will be available in the Tea Room and water and squash for the children.
Paddleboat Theatre Performance and Workshop 9th August
On 9th August Topsham Museum will be hosting a performance and workshop by the Paddleboat Theatre.
Designed for all the family this performance is about the journalist Clare Hollingworth. From the busy newspaper offices in London to the frontline during World War II, this globe-trotting and playful show embarks on a tale of daring, intrigue and an invasion that would rock the world.
At the workshop, families are invited to become journalists and to delve into local tales and maybe uncover a story or two of their own.

Come and join PaddleBoat Theatre Company after the show for a storytelling workshop. You will be able to become a real journalist and delve into local tales and maybe uncover a story or two of your own.
Designed for all the family this workshop will be filled with intriguing artefacts, unheard stories and adventures into the past. Work together to bring memories to life and save them for the future!
Evening Talk on Tuesday 13 August: “Paper from Rags” about the Two Rivers Paper Mill, by Jim Patterson.
Following the success of the Countess Wear Paper Mill Exhibition, which is continuing at the Museum, we are very pleased to announce this special talk, “Paper from Rags” the story of how paper is still being made from rags at the Two Rivers Mill, a water-powered paper mill in Somerset, is the last in the country to produce high-quality art paper from rags. Jim Patterson, the owner of the mill is coming to the Museum to talk about the process of paper making (7.00pm for 7.30 pm). Tickets cost £6, including a glass of wine or soft drink, available at the Museum shop or online at www.topshammuseum.org.uk. Tickets are limited, so please book early if you are interested.
The Museum has a series of monthly lunchtime lectures on a wide range of topics. The lectures are held on Tuesdays. Tea and coffee are served before the lecture and lunches after it. Doors open at 10.45 am. For the programme click here.
Secret Gardens of Topsham
The biennial Secret Gardens of Topsham offers an opportunity for visitors to see behind walls and into hidden corners of the town where they will be surprised and, we hope, delighted to discover a great variety of gardens, an opportunity to buy plants, and, of course, cream teas.
